Thanks for supporting The Creators Place by Yami Cam. Because most of what we make is custom, one-off, or built to order, our refund policy works a little differently depending on what you've bought.

Custom Engraving

Engraving work is made specifically for you based on the details and reference photos you provide. Once we've started work on your piece, we're unable to offer a refund, as the item can't be resold or reused for another customer. If there's an error on our part that doesn't match what was agreed, let us know within 7 days of delivery/pickup and we'll make it right.

Tapeless Camcorder Builds

Builds are custom-assembled per order using sourced parts and your specifications. The deposit taken before we source parts is non-refundable once sourcing has begun, as parts are purchased specifically for your build. If a completed build arrives faulty due to our workmanship, contact us within 7 days and we'll repair or replace the affected component at no cost.

Photo & Video Services

Bookings cancelled with more than 24 hours' notice are not charged. Cancellations with less notice, or no-shows, may be charged in full at the standard rate. Delivered photos/videos are non-refundable once handed over, as the service has been completed.

The Gear Shop & One-Off Shop

Gear Shop items (restocked accessories) can be returned within 14 days of delivery if unused and in original packaging, for a refund or exchange.

One-Off Shop items come with a 2-week warranty covering faults present at the time of sale. Since every one-off item is unique and secondhand/refurbished by nature, we don't offer refunds for change of mind — but if something's faulty within that 2-week window, we'll repair, replace, or refund at our discretion.

Your rights under New Zealand law

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986. If a product or service doesn't meet the guarantees set out in that law, you may be entitled to a remedy regardless of what's written above.

How to request a refund or repair

Email YamiCam@thecreatorsplacecom.com with your order number and a description (and photos, if relevant) of the issue.

Where we ship

We ship worldwide — not just within New Zealand. International delivery times will vary depending on destination and the item's origin (see below).

Processing times

Gear Shop items: delivery takes approximately 2–3 weeks. Selected items are shipped from overseas suppliers, which is factored into that timeframe — exact delivery time can vary depending on the specific item and your location.
One-Off Shop items: dispatched within 2–3 business days, shipped directly by us.
Camcorder builds: turnaround varies by build — we'll confirm an estimate once your order/deposit is in. Shipping is free.
Engraving work: collection/delivery arranged directly with you once your piece is finished.

Local pickup

Local pickup is available for some orders — this option will show at checkout if it applies to your order and location.

Tracking

Once your order ships, you'll get an email with tracking details.

Lost or damaged in transit

If your order arrives damaged or doesn't arrive at all, contact us within 7 days of the expected delivery date and we'll sort it out.

The Creators Place by Yami Cam ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we handle it, in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

Contact details you give us (name, email, phone, shipping/billing address), order and payment information, details you share for custom work (reference photos, engraving ideas, camera specs, booking details), and basic website usage data.

Why we collect it

To process and fulfil your orders and bookings, communicate with you, provide the custom work you've requested, and improve our website and services.

Who we share it with

Shopify (e-commerce and payments), our payment providers, shipping carriers, and Formspree (our contact form provider). We don't sell your personal information to third parties.

How long we keep it

We keep order and customer information for as long as needed to fulfil orders, meet legal/tax obligations, and handle any warranty claims.

Your rights

About us

We're a mobile, phase-one creative business based in Auckland, New Zealand, currently operating via pop-ups and online orders rather than a permanent storefront.

Custom work

For engraving and camcorder builds, the final result is based on the details, reference material, and instructions you provide us. Minor variation from any reference image is normal and expected.

Pricing

Engraving: small items $30–100, big items $150–300 (digital cameras: small-item price + cost of sourcing the camera, if applicable).
Camcorder builds: cost of parts + a $60 service fee, shipping included.
Photography/videography: first 30 minutes free, then $27/hour, delivery of files included; a physical USB drive copy is available for an additional $10.
All prices are in NZD unless stated otherwise.

Deposits

A deposit may be required before we begin sourcing parts for a camcorder build. Deposits secure your place in the queue and go toward your final cost.

Warranty

One-Off Shop items include a 2-week warranty against faults present at time of sale, plus an SD card reader and an information sheet about the item.
